Wallet and B2B-Direct settlement between a tenant and a merchant

Reference

Every tenant and merchant pair settles in one of two ways: through the tenant's wallet, the default, or on B2B-Direct credit the merchant has granted, paid outside the platform.

Overview#

The platform decides how each order is paid per tenant and merchant pair, not per tenant: a tenant can pay one merchant from its wallet and another on B2B-Direct credit at the same time. The wallet is the default; a pair settles on B2B-Direct only when a B2B-Direct route exists for it. The route is read fresh for every order, never remembered per tenant: when the order's money is first reserved or recorded and, for work and purchase orders, again when the order completes. A refuel order keeps the route it had when its charge was first recorded. How each order then moves through settlement is on Settlement rails for orders.

The two ways to settle#

Wallet (default)B2B-Direct
WhenNo B2B-Direct route for the pair. The pair has a B2B-Direct route.
MoneyReserved in the tenant's wallet, then paid to the merchant through the payment provider.Nothing moves through the platform; the order is charged to the merchant's credit line, and the tenant pays the merchant by bank transfer outside the platform.
Holds and dispatchA hold on the wallet, and a payment sent to the provider. No wallet hold and nothing sent to a provider.
LimitThe wallet's cash plus any platform credit line, checked when money is reserved for the order; see Platform credit lines. The B2B-Direct credit line's available credit, checked when the order settles; an order that does not fit is refused then; see B2B-Direct credit accounts.
Payment recordA payment by Wallet.A payment by B2B Direct Payment, recorded for reporting. It counts as paid when the order completes; repaying the merchant is recorded on the credit account as a whole, not per order.

A B2B-Direct order never touches the wallet balance, and a wallet order is never skipped. Paying again for the same order, on either route, never settles it twice.

E-voucher redemptions always settle on the merchant's B2B-Direct credit line, whatever the pair's route.

How a pair becomes B2B-Direct#

  • A merchant grants credit. Granting a B2B-Direct credit line to a tenant switches the pair to B2B-Direct in the same step, and platform operators are told; see Grant B2B-Direct credit to a tenant.
  • The platform operator adds a route. The operator keeps the list of B2B-Direct routes and can add or remove a pair.

Removing a pair's route returns it to the wallet. Open work and purchase orders then settle from the wallet when they complete, and money reserved for an order is released if the pair moves to B2B-Direct. A pair on B2B-Direct with no active credit account has no credit to draw on, so its orders are refused; see Payment block and refusal reasons.

Who sees what#

  • Tenants and merchants see their B2B-Direct relationships only through B2B Credit Accounts.
  • The route list, B2B-Direct Routes, is for platform operators only.

Reports#

Three finance surfaces keep the two ways apart:

  • The Money Movements list has Wallet-settled and B2B-Direct (recorded) views, each with its own total; see Transactions, money movements and ledger entries.
  • Tenants have B2B-Direct Amounts Owed, which shows, per merchant, everything billed on B2B-Direct in a daily, weekly, monthly or custom period, e-voucher redemptions included; it does not subtract repayments. It is a report only; nothing is marked as paid from it.
  • The daily provider reconciliation never counts B2B-Direct records as discrepancies.
