Platform credit lines

Reference

A platform credit line lets a tenant spend more than the cash in its wallet: the platform lends up to a limit, and the tenant repays by a deadline. It is a term facility: repaying it in full closes it.

Overview#

A platform credit line belongs to one tenant wallet; a wallet has at most one active line. When an order is paid from the wallet, cash is used first and the line covers the rest. Every drawdown and repayment is a permanent entry in the line's own ledger, so the amount owed can always be rebuilt from its history. The platform operator grants, resizes and closes lines; the tenant sees its line under Credit Summary. This is a different thing from the credit a merchant extends to a tenant; see B2B-Direct credit accounts.

Fields#

FieldWhat it holds
Total AllocatedThe limit: the most the tenant may owe.
Credit Used / OutstandingWhat the tenant owes now — the sum of the line's ledger entries.
Credit AvailableWhat can still be drawn: limit minus used, never below zero, and zero while the line is blocked.
UtilizationUsed as a share of the limit.
Allocation Date, Repayment DeadlineWhen the line was granted and when it must be repaid.
VAN for RepaymentThe account number the Credit Summary shows for repayment, when one is set.
Auto-settle from top-upA setting on the line: on for new lines, off for lines that existed before it was introduced; the operator sets it when granting or adjusting the line.

On the wallet, the line shows as Credit Balance (the available credit) and Credit On Hold (credit reserved for orders not yet paid); see Wallets and balances.

Statuses#

Repaying a line in full closes it: it is a term facility, not a revolving one, and the operator grants a new line for further credit. A repaid or exhausted line is never reactivated automatically.

Blocks#

An active line stops lending when either is true:

BlockWhen
Credit exhaustedFully drawn and past the repayment deadline.
Credit overduePast the repayment deadline with headroom left. The deadline day itself still counts as on time.

A block refuses new credit only. Cash in the wallet can still be spent, repayments are still accepted, and payments already in flight still complete. When the operator extends the deadline, the headroom returns at once and the deadline alerts start again from the new date. What the user sees when a payment is refused is on Payment block and refusal reasons.

Ledger#

EntrySignWritten when
Drawdown+A payment uses credit. Written once per payment, even if the payment is processed twice.
Repayment−The platform operator records a repayment the tenant made.

Changing the limit writes no ledger entry. Recent Credit Activity on the Credit Summary lists the last 10 entries; an entry's reference links to the payment behind it when the viewer may open it.

Rules#

  • Limit changes. The limit can be raised or lowered, even below what is owed; lowering it withdraws headroom, never the debt.
  • Repayments. A repayment larger than what is owed is refused, and a double-submitted repayment is recorded once.
  • Repayment is recorded by the operator. The tenant pays the platform outside the wallet, and the platform operator records the repayment against the line.
  • Retired wallets. A line on a retired wallet can no longer be used for new spending; its debt is still owed.

Notifications#

NotificationWhen
Credit threshold reachedUse of the line reaches 80%. It fires once per excursion and re-arms only after use falls below 70%.
Deadline approaching7 days before the repayment deadline.
Overdue1 day after the deadline.
ExhaustedThe line is fully drawn and past its deadline.

All of these go to the tenant's owners, admins and supervisors and to platform operators. Deadline notices also reach a closing line that still owes money.
