Notification channels and urgency
Every notice has an urgency. That urgency decides whether it stays in the portal, is also pushed to the phone, or is also sent by text.
Overview#
A notice is written for one person, in the language saved on that person. Two people told about the same event can receive different languages. Someone who has never chosen a language receives the platform default, which is English. How languages are chosen is on Language, dates and number formats. Urgency and channels#
There are three tiers: Urgent, Important and Background.

The notice in the portal is kept even when the phone push cannot be sent.
An urgent or important push usually goes to every phone or tablet that person is still signed in on. Two notices are different: a merchant's acceptance of an order, and a payment update. Those are pushed to the store's devices, in the language of the merchant's country, rather than as a separate personal message for each person.
A text message uses the same short wording as the portal notice, in that person's language. If there is no phone number, no text is sent and the portal notice and the push are unchanged.
Signing out, or a device the push service no longer accepts, marks that device inactive. Later pushes skip it.
Rules#
Order Updates and Document Expiry Reminders cannot be turned off. Maintenance Alerts and Wallet Updates can be turned off in the driver app. A person who has turned one of those off does not receive that notice, on any channel.
When an order has a reference, and an earlier notice about that order is still unread, a later notice updates that one instead of adding a second. The title and the urgency change to the latest event.
Some events use a higher tier as they become more urgent. The tier used for that sending is the one in the table above.
